About the Position

Anglicare’s Children & Families have a long history of providing family and children support services, including family intervention, foster and kinship care, counselling, relationship support and much more. Our Residential Care Service assists young people aged primarily 12 – 17 years residing within residential care programs by actively engaging in and building purposeful relationships with young people, their families, community and important stakeholders.

We are looking for a full time Practitioner based in Logan, for a fixed term contract, commencing ASAP until end December 2019. The position will provide guidance to Youth Workers and will support young people’s social, emotional, mental health, family and community connections, cultural and educational needs. You will also facilitate transition into and out of residential services.

 

About You

As an experienced Case Manager within the youth and family sector you will have a great attitude and genuine passion for supporting young people, and offer:

  • Demonstrated experience in child protection, youth justice or youth work within residential programs
  • Strong and effective case management, including risk and needs assessments
  • A background in the assessment of complex to extreme needs of young people and the development of strength-based care plans
  • Strong understanding of child and adolescent development including impacts of trauma, attachment disorder and grief and loss
  • Capacity to support and assist youth workers to develop the necessary skills and resilience to be successful
  • A highly collaborative and consultative manner, liaising with external stakeholders including government departments
  • Completion of complex documentation on time and within required guidelines
  • Problem solving skills, an innovative approach and ability to think outside the box
  • Exceptional capacity to communicate with a range of people including family members and other support networks
  • Negotiation and influencing skills, able to present information in a manner well suited to your audience
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of standard business hours and provide on-call support as required                                                                    

Qualifications and documentation required:

  • Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social or Behavioural Sciences or similar field
  • A valid Blue Card (Working with Children)
  • Current Licensed Care Service (LCS)
  • A current Queensland Driver License
